Useless feedback

When you walk past a house with a dog in it and the dog starts to bark at you, you don’t take it personally. You don’t gasp and recoil and press your hand to your chest and say “Me?! But I love dogs! How could you bark at me?”

A dog barking at you because you’re walking by is not providing actionable feedback. It’s barking because it doesn’t understand the situation. It can’t understand the situation, because it’s a dog. If you get offended, that’s you being unreasonable.

The same is true of people who aren’t providing actionable feedback. It’s up to you to recognize it and ignore it. If you don’t, that’s you being unreaosnable.

It’s a lot harder to get the hang of, though.
