Pretending to know what you’re doing is indistinguishable from actually knowing what you’re doing far more often than it has any right to be.
Part of the reason for that is that nobody thinks about you as often as you think they do. Part of the reason is that pretending is a great way to feel a certain way, and feeling is most of the way toward being.
It’s not as good as actually knowing what you’re doing. But it’s a decent first step.
