Decisions which matter

Epictetus compared life to a play. The director decides what part you get. You don’t have any real input into that. All you get to decide is whether you’re going to play your part well.

Some decisions are simply not yours to make. The director decides if you’ll be rich or poor. They decide whether your life will be quiet and peaceful or full of tragedy and pain. You can make decisions which affect that, but everyone has to work with what they’ve got.

So many people believe they have far more power than they actually do, but don’t use any of what they have.
