Tricking your brain
You might have to trick your brain and body into being different. But that’s okay, your brain and body are super easy to trick.
Want to learn weightlifting? Find the gym where all the weightlifters go, and go hang out there. Walk by it as often as possible. Go inside and just chill for a bit, whenever possible.
It will take some time, but it will start to feel natural to go there. Your brain will start to conclude that you are the type of person who spends a lot of time at the gym hanging out around weightlifters. What else do other people who spend a lot of time at the gym do? You’ll have plenty of readily visible, musclebound examples.
It sounds too simple to be true, but it works. This is why they say to dress for the job you want, not the job you have. It’s not to impress the people around you with your wardrobe. It’s to make you feel like the kind of person who would have that job. Dress the way they dress. Hang out at the places they hang out. Try to speak like them. The more you feel like one of them, the easier it will be to become one of them.
The main person you have to convince is yourself. Once you’re on board, convincing others will be much easier.
