I recently painted a picture. It’s the second time I’ve painted in 20 years. I was painting with some friends, and they were impressed. One told me she didn’t know I painted (ha!).
I wasn’t happy with it. I think the perspective is bad, and it’s missing details I wanted to be clearer.
That feeling is valid and can be useful, depending on how you phrase it to yourself. If you say “I’m bad at painting,” that’s absurd. If you say “I can do better next time,” now you’re on to something. That perspective is called a Growth Mindset, and it’s something I’m bad at.
But I can do better next time.
